Hearts In Motion: Mission

The Women’s Ministry of Fourth Avenue Church exists to provide opportunities for women: to grow into a more intimate relationship with Jesus Christ; to develop more personal relationships with other women; and to be Jesus’ hands and feet in the community through service to those in need.

Y.E.S. Quarterly Outreach

Each quarter, H.I.M. will sponsor an outreach activity to benefit the children of Youth Encouragement Services (Y.E.S.).  A meal will be prepared and taken to Y.E.S. for the children. After serving the meal to the children and visiting with them while they eat, H.I.M. representatives will read to the children.  The evening of service will conclude with the women of H.I.M. sharing a fellowship dinner together at a nearby restaurant for some fun and laughter.

Women’s Jail Ministry

The Women’s Jail Ministry visits the Williamson County Corrections Facility every Sunday night and offers a worship service for the female inmates.  A leader attends each month with other ladies who attend based on a rotating schedule (about once a month, also).

You must be certified to visit the jail.  Certification meetings are only held once a year, usually in November.  Your certification must be renewed annually.  Once certified, you can attend the church services (there is a limit of three ladies for Sunday night services).  You can also visit individually with inmates on weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. or most evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

This ministry may take you out of your comfort zone; however, everyone who visits says it is wonderful.  We get more out of our visits than the inmates do!
